|Jan M. is a light designer who works in the contemporary dance and performance field. He has an interest in the performativity of light and has designed for Meg Stuarts among other artists.

In his work, he wants to create a focus on the given spatial context of a room, the architecture of the theater. Over the years the stage has gotten emptier and often stripped away from scenography. Even the technical infrastructure would disappear, which led to the importance of light imposing itself and becoming a scenographical element. As such the lack of scenography even became a structural component, it led to the confrontation of a new problem, you needed to create light with a body on stage and you could even say the body became materialized in some way.
